First Impressions of the Tecno Phantom V Fold 5G: A Strong Statement.

When Tecno went all-in and presented its first folding smartphone during MWC 2023, it came as a big surprise for a business that has been focused on the budget and mid-range smartphone market since its inception.

This horizontal folding smartphone, known as the Phantom V Fold 5G, will be wholly produced in India and is a direct rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.

This may be one of the factors influencing its extremely low price of Rs. 88,888, which is about comparable to the cost of flip or vertically folding smartphones. We had the opportunity to use this phone for a while after Tecno recently launched it in India. Here is our opinion.

Comparisons to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 are only natural, and based on its specifications, the new Tecno Phantom V Fold 5G appears to be fairly well-equipped.

It hits all the right boxes, from its flagship-caliber 4nm SoC and up to 512GB of storage to its enormous 7.85-inch LTPO AMOLED display. Like all previous folding phones of this type, the phone itself is large and is designed to be used with two hands.

It is also somewhat heavy. I like how there is almost no apparent space between the two halves when it is folded. The Phantom V Fold 5G is still smaller than the competition at 14.5mm, even at its thickest point .
