Navi Mumbai — The Navi Mumbai International Airport has entered a new phase of development by starting round-the-clock operations, marking an important milestone in the expansion of aviation infrastructure in the Mumbai region.
When commercial flight services began in December 2025, the airport initially operated on a 12-hour daily schedule. With growing passenger demand and airline planning, the airport has now transitioned to 24-hour operations.
Gradual Expansion of Flight Services
In its early weeks of operation, the airport handled over 100,000 passengers within a short period, showing strong demand for the new aviation hub.
Currently, air traffic movement is limited to around 10 flights per hour, but authorities plan to increase this capacity to about 20 flights per hour as operations scale up.
Airlines are expected to expand their schedules gradually, especially with the upcoming summer aviation season, which could significantly increase flight activity at the airport.
Strengthening Mumbai’s Aviation Network
The Navi Mumbai airport is designed to complement Mumbai’s existing airport and support the region’s growing air-travel demand. With 24×7 operations now in place, the airport is expected to provide greater flexibility, improved connectivity and better passenger convenience in the coming months.
As flight volumes grow, the airport is likely to play a key role in Mumbai’s multi-airport aviation system, helping manage congestion and support long-term regional growth.
