Rohit Sharma scores a quick-fire 50 to get the Border Gavaskar Trophy off to a good start.

Day 1 of the IND AUS Nagpur Test saw India dominate the proceedings, as India’s captain Rohit Sharma displayed his best touch. Rohit blasted an aggressive half-century to give India the lead in the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the first time.

In ODI and T20I matches, Rohit has shown attacking batsmanship, but not as frequently in Test matches. The India captain came out firing and attacked Australia’s bowlers after India bowled Australia out for just 177 on the opening day of the first Test. He was very harsh with Nathan Lyon, not letting the off-spinner have a chance to settle. India seemed set to gain a significant advantage in the Nagpur Test.

In the Nagpur Test, India will try to bat just once because the wicket is expected to deteriorate on days four and five.
