The resignations of the governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, and the lieutenant governor of Ladakh, R. K. Mathur, have been accepted, according to a statement released by Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Six additional people were named governors on Sunday, including four BJP officials and former Supreme Court justice S Adbul Nazeer, who served on the Constitution court that validated the archaeological report on Ayodhya.

As governors of Sikkim, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Assam, respectively, BJP politicians Lakshman Prasad Acharya, C P Radhakrishnan, Shiv Pratap Shukla, and Gulab Chand Kataria—who is also the Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan—were chosen.
