Known for her elegant stroke play and aggressive batting style, she has been a key member of the Indian national team across all formats. Smriti Mandhana was born in Mumbai and raised in Sangli, Maharashtra. Her father and brother were both cricketers, which inspired her to take up the sport at a very young age. She started playing cricket seriously by the age of nine and was selected for Maharashtra’s Under-15 team when she was just eleven. [2]
Smriti made headlines in domestic cricket by scoring a double century in a one-day match for Maharashtra at the age of 13. Her consistent performances at the junior level earned her a place in the Indian women’s national team, and she made her international debut in 2013.[3]
Smriti Mandhana has represented India in Tests, ODIs and T20Is, becoming one of the most reliable opening batters in world cricket. She has played several match-winning innings in ICC tournaments including the Women’s World Cup and T20 World Cup.
