Mumbai is once again facing the fury of the monsoon as heavy rainfall has brought the city to a standstill. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the next 24 hours, warning of extremely heavy showers across several parts of the city and suburbs.

According to early morning reports, multiple areas including Dadar, Andheri, Kurla, and Sion witnessed severe waterlogging, causing inconvenience to commuters. Local train services on Central and Western lines are delayed by 20–30 minutes, while traffic movement on major routes such as the Eastern Express Highway and Western Express Highway has slowed down significantly.

Authorities have advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel as high-tide conditions are expected later in the evening, which could worsen flooding in low-lying areas.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has deployed additional staff to clear drains and manage flood-affected zones. Meanwhile, schools and offices have been asked to remain cautious and switch to online operations where possible.

Residents are urged to stay updated with official advisories and take necessary precautions. Emergency helplines have been activated to assist those stranded due to flooding.
