Navi Mumbai faced major disruption on Saturday as heavy rainfall led to severe waterlogging across several key areas, including Turbhe APMC Market, Turbhe Road, and adjoining localities. The downpour, which began early morning, intensified by afternoon, leaving thousands of commuters stranded and traffic movement at a standstill.

At Turbhe APMC, one of the busiest wholesale markets in the region, rainwater entered several shops, causing inconvenience to traders and delivery vehicles. Daily operations were heavily affected as trucks found it difficult to enter or leave the premises due to knee-deep water.

Turbhe Road, a vital connector for office-goers and heavy vehicles, witnessed slow-moving traffic, with several vehicles breaking down in submerged patches. Commuters reported delays of more than an hour during peak travel times.

Residents of nearby areas such as Sanpada, Kopar Khairane, and Vashi also complained of flooding in residential lanes and underpasses. Many schools and offices advised people to opt for work-from-home or remote classes to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has deployed pumping machines and disaster management teams at vulnerable points. Officials confirmed that continuous rainfall coupled with high tide conditions worsened the situation, but efforts are underway to drain out the excess water.

As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more heavy showers in the coming days, residents have been urged to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow civic advisories.
