The Vashi APMC distributes critical goods to the MMR area, and a drop in supply influences their prices throughout the MMR.

Wholesale market rate

Onion prices in wholesale markets have risen from Rs. 2 to Rs. 5 per kilogram. Onions are currently selling for Rs. 18–Rs. 22 per kg at the APMC market, up from a previous price range of Rs. 15–Rs. 18 per kg. Retail markets are considerably more expensive, with onions fetching prices ranging from Rs. 30 to Rs. 35 per kg.

According to Pranav Das, a vegetable vendor from Nerul, the quality of onions is poor, and they cannot even be stored for a week.
