He mentioned that 40 countries had joined the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) in recent years during his video speech at the sixth International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure 2023.
According to him, the conference has developed into a crucial venue for bringing together the global north and south, large and small nations, and advanced and developing economies.
Infrastructure, according to PM Modi, is about reach and resilience as well as financial benefits.
He asserted that social and digital infrastructure is just as crucial as transportation infrastructure. The conference’s subject for this year is “Resilient and Inclusive Infrastructure.”
He noted the occurrences of the heat wave that had devastated India and Europe, the cyclones, and the most recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria as recent calamities that serve as a reminder of the scope of issues facing the world.
He brought up the Infrastructure for Resilient Island States (IRIS), which is beneficial to many island nations, in pointing out the inclusive goal of various CDRI efforts.
There is a lot of interest in the $50 million Infrastructure Resilience Accelerator Fund among poor countries. The success of initiatives depends on the commitment of financial resources, he noted.
The CDRI has been a part of various working groups of the elite body, according to PM Modi, who said that India’s current G20 leadership is uniting the world this year.
