After Australia defeated India by 21 runs in the third One-Day International in Chennai on Wednesday, skipper Steve Smith declared that the tour had been “enjoyable” for the visitors.

Australia’s victory allowed them to win the three-match ODI series 2-1, allowing them to successfully recover from their 2-1 Test series loss. India has not lost an ODI series at home since 2019. By the way, they also defeated Australia in their previous series, which took place in March 2019, 3-2.

At one point, Australia was suffering on 196/6, but thanks to their lower order batters, they were able to hit 269 on a difficult track at the M A Chidambaram. Adam Zampa, a leg-spinner, then worked his magic with the bat, taking four wickets to knock India out for 248 in 49.1 overs.

“The tour has been enjoyable. We did not play the cricket necessary to win at our best. We left a few out there with the bat because this wicket was completely different. The spinners performed admirably, bowling superbly. In the field, it was quite difficult. We reached a fantastic total thanks to the way the tail stuck and brought us to 269; “Smith commented following the game.

In addition, Australia recaptured the top spot in one-day cricket, which gave them a huge confidence boost before the ODI World Cup in October-November.

“It’s a fantastic accomplishment. The team should be quite happy of themselves as it’s the first step towards our World Cup “said Mitchell Marsh, an all-arounder.
