Awarapan 2 Cleared by CBFC After Multiple Edits; Violent Scenes and Drug Sequence Removed is a trending topic covered by Sejal News Network with latest updates and insights.
One of the year’s most anticipated Bollywood releases, Awarapan 2, has officially received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the approval came only after the makers agreed to several modifications, including trimming violent scenes, removing a drug-use sequence and adding mandatory health warnings.
CBFC Grants U/A 16+ Certificate
According to reports, Awarapan 2 has been awarded a U/A 16+ certificate, allowing viewers aged 16 and above to watch the film with parental guidance where applicable.
Before issuing the certificate, the CBFC asked the filmmakers to implement a series of changes aimed at reducing the impact of graphic violence and drug-related content.
What Changes Were Made?
The censor board reportedly instructed the makers to:
- Remove three scenes featuring extreme violence
- Delete a drug-snorting sequence
- Reduce the length of another violent sequence by nearly 50%
- Replace or mute certain offensive words in both audio and subtitles
- Add anti-drug and anti-smoking health disclaimers wherever required
- Include a disclaimer related to child trafficking during relevant portions of the film.
Runtime Updated After the Edits
Following the changes, the film’s final approved runtime now stands at 2 hours, 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
Reports suggest that the CBFC ordered roughly four minutes of deletions, along with a few replacement edits before clearing the film for theatrical release.
Emraan Hashmi Returns as Shivam Pandit
Awarapan 2 marks the return of Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit, one of the actor’s most loved characters.
The sequel also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, the movie continues the story of the cult-classic Awarapan (2007), which gained a loyal fan following over the years.
Fans Excited Ahead of Release
Despite the censor-board modifications, excitement surrounding Awarapan 2 remains high.
The recently released teaser has generated significant buzz online, with fans eager to see Emraan Hashmi reprise one of his most iconic roles. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 14, 2026, and is expected to be one of the biggest Bollywood releases of the month.
