US President Donald Trump has said the American military is prepared to launch further strikes against Iran “any time we want,” following a fresh round of attacks that has intensified tensions in the region. Trump also backed away from an earlier suggestion that the strategically important Strait of Hormuz could be renamed the “Trump Strait.”
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday, Trump described the latest US military action as a “very heavy attack” and said American forces were ready to conduct another operation if required.
Trump Says US Destroyed Iranian Military Equipment
Trump claimed that US forces had targeted newly constructed Iranian military equipment near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes.
According to the US president, the equipment included systems with both defensive and offensive capabilities. He also said American forces had destroyed an Iranian rocket that was reportedly being developed to deploy mines, along with radar and missile-related systems.
Trump’s comments come amid renewed military exchanges between Washington and Tehran, with the latest strikes representing one of the most serious escalations in recent months.
Iran Reports Civilian Casualties
Iranian officials have claimed that the latest US strike hit a wedding gathering in southern Iran, killing at least four people and injuring dozens.

Trump Backs Away From ‘Trump Strait’ Idea
Trump also addressed his earlier suggestion of changing the name of the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier on Wednesday, he had posted on Truth Social asking whether the waterway should be renamed “TRUMP STRAIT”, claiming that the United States had control of the strategic passage.
However, when reporters later asked whether he genuinely intended to rename it after himself, Trump appeared to distance himself from the proposal.
“No, no … it was just thrown out there,” he said.
The proposal nevertheless attracted international attention, particularly because the Strait of Hormuz is a major route for global energy shipments.
Strait of Hormuz Remains at the Centre of the Crisis
The Strait of Hormuz has become a major flashpoint during the confrontation between the US and Iran.
Trump has repeatedly asserted that the United States has control over the waterway. He had also previously spoken about potentially declaring the strait a US territory, according to reports.
