Mumbai [India], November 7: Netflix’s crime drama series Akka brings together Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in an intense story set in a fictional South Indian town during the 1980s. Released on October 30, 2026, the series explores power, rivalry, loyalty and the dangerous world of female gangsters.
Set in the fictional town of Pernuru, Akka revolves around a powerful sisterhood that controls the region. Their established authority faces an unexpected challenge when a mysterious outsider enters their world, threatening the balance of power and the legacy they have built.
Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in Lead Roles
Keerthy Suresh plays Bhavani, a powerful figure at the centre of the story, while Radhika Apte portrays Rudra, whose arrival creates a major threat to the existing order.
The series also features Tanvi Azmi, Nivedita Bhargava, Anshumaan Pushkar, Poornima Indrajith, Vishak Nair, Mahesh Manjrekar, Monika Panwar and several other actors in important roles.
The contrasting characters and their relationships form the central conflict of the series, with questions of authority, ambition and survival shaping the narrative.
A Crime Drama Set in the 1980s
One of the key attractions of Akka is its period setting. The fictional town of Pernuru provides the backdrop for a story involving organised crime, rivalries and a powerful female-led network.
Rather than focusing on a conventional crime investigation, the series explores the internal dynamics of a territory controlled by women and what happens when an outsider challenges its leadership.
