The foldable form factor will be a major trend in 2023, according to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this year.

Samsung currently has the most market share, and consumers are quite enthusiastic about its foldables. Oppo is attempting to reverse the trend with the new Find N2 Flip, which is meant to compete with the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

This is the first foldable phone that Oppo has released on the global market. Even if the Find N2 Flip is offered in India for a premium price of Rs 89,999, it is still unclear whether it can separate out from the competition.

How does the Find N2 Flip fare against the Galaxy Z Flip 4?

The Find N2 Flip features a 32MP front-facing camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP main rear camera. With the ability to remain open at an angle (akin to what Samsung refers to as Flex Mode), pictures and movies, particularly selfies, may be framed with the outside screen and taken with the rear cameras for higher-quality results.

Here, instead of Qualcomm’s most recent Snapdragon chip, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ CPU is in use, in contrast to the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 offers three storage configurations: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, however Oppo has restricted its capacity to 256GB. Although they have different sizes and aspect ratios, both devices have AMOLED panels with Full HD+ resolutions and up to 120Hz refresh rates. Moreover, Oppo’s N2 Flip is compatible with HDR10+ content and has a peak brightness of 1600 nits as opposed to Samsung’s 1200 nits.

The Find N2 Flip has a giant 4,300mAh battery, which is far larger than the 3,700mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

It also charges to full power quickly with Oppo’s SuperVOOC 44W charging, in contrast to Samsung’s 25W charging, which is quick but trails behind a lot of the competition from Chinese manufacturers. Yet, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 does have one benefit over the Find N2 Flip: it enables wireless charging.

Moreover, the camera on the Find N2 Flip is capable of recording in 1080p at 60 frames per second and up to 4K quality at up to 30 frames per second. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 offers a wider variety of video recording capabilities, supporting 4K quality at up to 60 frames per second. Another significant feature absent from the N2 Flip is IPX8 water resistance, which is supported by the Z Flip 4.

When all of these factors are taken into account, it is challenging to say that Oppo’s foldable phone is superior to the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The N2 Flip may also have a difficult time finding buyers despite being priced similarly to the Z Flip 4 due to the reputation Chinese manufacturers and smartphones have earned over time (particularly in India). It remains to be seen how long the Find N2 Flip will be competitive with the upcoming Galaxy Flip 5.
