In accordance with a watch notice, a solar firm director who stole significant sums of money from businessmen, including a former Maharashtra minister, while posing as an investor in a solar power project was apprehended last week after arriving at the Mumbai international airport (LOC).

When Shekar Deshpande arrived on April 8, immigration officers informed the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Department.
When EOW representatives arrived at the airport, they arrested him. Deshpande, according to the police, has been missing since 2014, when his name surfaced in inquiries.
Police had already detained Vivek Ambekar.
In 2010, the complainant met Ambekar, who claimed to be the owner of the Goregaon-based Ignited Minds Infosystem as well as one of its directors along with Shekar and Leena Deshpande.
Ambekar informed the complainants that under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission solar power project scheme of the Government of India, investors would rent or buy the land, install panels and other materials, and pass the electricity produced to the electricity company.
