Mumbai, August 3, 2025:
Mumbai’s ambitious Coastal Road Project reached a major milestone today with the first trial run for public vehicles. The project, designed to reduce city traffic and cut travel time between Marine Drive and Worli, has been under development for several years and is now one step closer to opening for regular commuters.

Early this morning, a limited number of cars and buses were allowed to enter the coastal road stretch under supervision. Engineers monitored vehicle movement, speed patterns, and safety parameters to ensure smooth functioning before an official launch.

Commuters who were part of the trial reported a significant reduction in travel time, estimating a 15‑20 minute journey instead of the usual 45 minutes through congested city routes. Authorities stated that once the road opens completely, it will ease traffic on Western Express Highway and key arterial roads.

The BMC and Mumbai Traffic Police have confirmed that final safety checks and system monitoring will continue for a few weeks before the public launch. If all goes according to plan, the first phase of the Coastal Road could be open to all vehicles soon, marking a new era in Mumbai’s urban transport infrastructure.
