In addition to Hindi and English, “the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved holding constable (general duty) test for CAPFs in 13 regional languages, in a landmark move under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” it stated.

The question paper will be given in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani.

The declaration comes days after Shah was urged by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in a letter to include Tamil as a language for the written exam for hiring individuals for the CRPF.

Stalin claimed in his letter that the written exam for the CRPF recruitment was advertised as being available in Hindi and English.

The decision, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, will lead to thousands of applicants completing the test in their native tongue or a regional language, improving their chances of being selected.
