Navi Mumbai Airport to Connect 46 Cities from April : The aviation landscape of India is set for a major upgrade as Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) prepares to connect 46 domestic destinations starting April 2026.

This expansion marks a crucial milestone for Mumbai’s second airport, positioning it as a rapidly growing aviation hub in the country.

Massive Expansion in Just Months

After beginning commercial operations in December 2025, the airport is now moving into its first full-scale operational phase.

Under its summer schedule (March to October 2026), NMIA will:

  • Expand connectivity to 46 cities across India
  • Introduce 30 new domestic routes
  • Increase flight operations significantly

Air traffic movements are expected to cross 1,000+ weekly flights, showing how quickly the airport is scaling up.

Daily departures are also projected to jump from around 22 flights at launch to nearly 78 flights per day by April.

Top Cities Getting Direct Connectivity

The new network will connect Navi Mumbai directly to major commercial, tourism, and religious destinations.

High-frequency routes will include:

  • Delhi
  • Goa
  • Bengaluru
  • Kochi

Other important cities include:

  • Hyderabad
  • Kolkata
  • Lucknow
  • Varanasi
  • Indore

Additionally, several Tier-2 and emerging cities like:

  • Agra
  • Aurangabad
  • Belgaum
  • Kolhapur
  • Srinagar
  • Tirupati

will also be part of this growing network.

Airlines Driving the Growth

Major airlines are playing a key role in this expansion, including:

  • IndiGo
  • Akasa Air
  • Air India Express

These carriers are increasing their presence at NMIA, adding more routes and boosting capacity to meet rising passenger demand.

Why This Matters for Mumbai & Beyond

Mumbai has long depended on a single major airport, leading to congestion and delays.

With NMIA now expanding rapidly:

  • Passenger load will be distributed more efficiently
  • Travel time for Navi Mumbai and nearby regions will reduce
  • Businesses and tourism will get a major boost

The airport is strategically located in Ulwe and is designed to serve the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), making it a future-ready aviation hub.

A Step Toward India’s Aviation Future

This expansion is not just about adding routes — it reflects India’s growing demand for air travel.

With better connectivity:

  • Tier-2 cities get faster access to Mumbai
  • Tourism circuits become stronger
  • Economic activity spreads beyond metro cities

Navi Mumbai Airport is expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of India’s aviation growth.

Navi Mumbai Airport to Connect 46 Cities from April — Major Boost for India’s Air Travel Network

From just a handful of flights to 46 connected cities in months, NMIA’s journey has been rapid and impactful.

As operations scale up in April, travelers can expect:

  • More flight options
  • Better connectivity
  • Reduced congestion in Mumbai

The message is clear — Navi Mumbai Airport is no longer just an alternative, it’s becoming a central aviation hub for India.
