The Fit 5 Sports Club concluded its 15-day residential summer camp for children with intellectual disabilities on Wednesday at the Center for Disability Sports, Gwalior. The closing ceremony was marked by the distribution of medals, certificates, and individual assessment sheets to all participating athletes.
The chief guest for the event was Dr. Manvendra Singh, Director of the Sports Excellence Center under Special Olympics Bharat. He was joined by Mr. Rohit Sharma, Senior Technical Advisor, and Mrs. Preeti Tiwari, Special Educator, among other distinguished guests. The dignitaries were welcomed by Mr. Bhoopendra Bhatt, Director of Fit 5 Sports Club, and Mr. Rohit Raghuwanshi, Camp In-charge.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of inclusive sports programs and highlighted the need to identify and nurture talent among children with intellectual challenges. He lauded the initiative taken by the Fit 5 Sports Club, noting that such camps play a critical role in developing the overall personality and confidence of the participants.
All athletes were felicitated with medals in recognition of their performance and participation. Coaches including Mr. Gajendra Yadav, Mr. Saurav Meena, and Ms. Priyanka Jonwal were also honoured with certificates and appreciation gifts for their dedication and contribution to the camp.
Representatives from the Family Forum, including Mr. Sudhir Kale (Observer) and Mrs. Manjari Kale, were present at the event and commended the camp’s positive impact on the athletes’ development.
In addition to physical training, the camp featured structured assessments that evaluated each participant’s progress in motor skills, communication, social interaction, and behavioural development.
The Fit 5 Summer Camp, an initiative aimed at fostering sports engagement and life skills among intellectually disabled children, has emerged as a promising model for inclusive sports education in Madhya Pradesh.
