Mumbai Flood Update : Mumbai, July 25, 2025 — Mumbai continues to reel under the impact of relentless monsoon rains that have left large parts of the city submerged, disrupted public transport, and brought daily life to a near standstill.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded over 200 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, with more showers expected through the weekend. Low-lying areas such as Sion, Kurla, Dadar, and Andheri have reported severe waterlogging, with water levels reaching up to knee height in some zones.

🚆 Local Trains Suspended, Flights Delayed

Mumbai’s suburban train services — the city’s lifeline — were severely hit. Central and Western Railway operations were either suspended or running at limited capacity. The Harbour Line remained non-functional for over six hours due to waterlogging on tracks.

Meanwhile, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport reported delays in flight operations as visibility dropped and runway drainage systems were overwhelmed.

🚓 BMC Issues Emergency Alerts

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued advisories urging residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. Disaster response teams have been deployed across critical zones, and schools in affected areas will remain shut for the next 48 hours.

Speaking to Sejal News Network, a BMC official stated, “We’ve activated pumping stations and deployed extra personnel in vulnerable zones. Citizens are advised not to venture near sea-facing areas.”

🌊 High Tide Warning

The IMD has also predicted a high tide at 4:12 PM today, which could further aggravate flooding in coastal regions like Colaba, Worli, and Juhu. Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea until further notice.

🧍‍♂️ Voices from the Ground

Ritesh Patil, a daily commuter from Thane, shared: “It took me over 3 hours to reach Dadar today. The trains were packed, and most buses were canceled. This is worse than last year.”

Another resident, Aarti Mehta from Kurla, said: “Water has entered our building compound. We’ve lost electricity since early morning.”

🏥 Emergency Services & Helplines

The BMC has activated the following helplines for immediate assistance:

  • Disaster Control Room: 1916
  • Emergency Ambulance: 108
  • Traffic Updates: 84549 99909

Citizens are encouraged to follow official Twitter handles and local news updates for the latest alerts.

📌 Important Tips for Residents

  • Avoid walking through flooded streets — risk of open manholes and electric shocks.
  • Keep emergency lights, medicines, and dry food stocked.
  • Do not spread or believe in unverified rumors or panic alerts.

Sejal News Network continues to monitor the situation and will provide real-time updates on https://sejalnewsnetwork.in and our official social media channels.
