Mumbai, August 18 :
Mumbai Weather Update : Mumbai continued to battle relentless monsoon showers on Monday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the city and its suburbs. The warning comes after heavy to very heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Mumbai, disrupting daily life and slowing down transport services.

According to officials, Santacruz recorded nearly 99 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours, while Colaba registered around 38 mm. The continuous downpour has led to waterlogging in areas like Andheri Subway, Vakola Bridge, and Khar Subway, forcing traffic diversions and slowing vehicular movement across the city.

Suburban train services on the Central and Western lines are running late by 15 to 20 minutes, while BEST bus routes have been diverted in waterlogged zones. Airlines have also issued advisories, asking passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport due to possible delays.

On a positive note, the rains have brought some relief to Mumbai’s water supply concerns. Tulsi Lake, one of the city’s key reservoirs, has started overflowing, ensuring improved storage levels for the months ahead.

The IMD has predicted continued rainfall with strong winds over the next 24 hours, urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel. Civic officials have deployed extra pumps and emergency teams in flood-prone areas.
