Navi Mumbai [India], November 3: Residents across Navi Mumbai are facing a scheduled water supply shutdown today, Tuesday, November 3, as the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carries out essential maintenance work on its main water distribution network. The 10-hour shutdown began at 10 am and is scheduled to continue until 8 pm.
The disruption is affecting the evening water supply in several parts of the city, including Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe-Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli and Airoli. Water supply in the CIDCO-administered areas of Kharghar and Kamothe is also affected.
Why Is Water Supply Suspended Today?
According to the NMMC public notice, the shutdown has been planned to carry out multiple maintenance activities on pipelines connected to the Morbe main water supply network. The work includes installing butterfly valves and sluice valves at important locations, along with fitting flow meters.
Major works are being undertaken near Moraj Circle in Sanpada, Samana Press in Sanpada Sector 30, Satra Plaza near the APMC Market in Vashi Sector 19 and on the distribution pipeline in Vashi Sector 29.
Additional maintenance is scheduled at the Belapur Sector 28 pump house and Killa Junction in Belapur Sector 15. Four flow meters are also being installed on a distribution pipeline near Shiravane village.
Water Supply in Navi Mumbai May Remain at Low Pressure Tomorrow
The civic body has cautioned residents that water supply on Wednesday morning, November 4, may be available at reduced pressure following the completion of the maintenance work.
Citizens have been advised to store sufficient water and use it carefully during the shutdown period. Residents in the affected areas should plan their household water requirements accordingly.
NMMC Appeals to Residents to Save Water
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the administration during the maintenance work and avoid unnecessary water consumption.
