Officials have set a target to complete the project by February 2027, with construction already crossing the halfway mark. Over 50% of the work has been completed, including major structural elements such as foundations, piers, and girder installations, indicating steady progress on ground.
One of the biggest advantages of this connector is its impact on travel time. Once operational, the corridor is expected to reduce travel duration between Mumbai and Pune by up to 60–90 minutes, making long-distance commuting faster and more convenient.
The project is also strategically important due to its proximity to key infrastructure such as the Navi Mumbai International Airport, JNPT port, and major highways.
