Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan put up another strong showing at the box office on Monday by taking advantage of the Gandhi Jayanti national holiday. Although the movie no longer has many records to break, its fourth weekend box office performance was comparable to that of many other films’ opening weekends. Jawan made Rs 6.8 crore on its fourth Monday (day 26 after release), bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 611 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
Jawan, which surpassed Shah Rukh’s own Jawan to become the most successful Hindi film ever in India, is the first Hindi film to surpass the Rs 600 crore mark in the domestic market. With slightly about Rs 1100 crore in revenue, Jawan is currently the second-biggest Hindi movie worldwide. In its fourth weekend, Jawan added a stupendous Rs 22 crore across India. On day 26, the action drama registered a nationwide occupancy of 34% for its Hindi version, while the Tamil and Telugu versions have largely stopped circulation. Jawan broke the records for the biggest opening day, opening weekend, and opening week for a Hindi release. It also became the fastest Hindi movie to pass the Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore and Rs 500 crore marks. The film also earned Shah Rukh the unique distinction of becoming the only Bollywood actor to deliver two Rs 1000 crore-plus grossers in a single year.
