1. Tight Security for Ganesh Festival

With Ganesh Utsav beginning August 27, Mumbai Police have announced deployment of over 17,600 personnel across the city—including 15,000 constables, 2,600 inspectors, SRPF teams, drone units, and K9 squads. Preparedness includes CCTV surveillance, watchtowers, drone monitoring, and strategic deployment at popular pandals and immersion points.

2. Late-Night Metro for Festival-Goers

To ease travel during the festive period, Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 will operate until midnight from August 27 to September 6. This move is expected to significantly support commuters attending evening events and immersions.

3. Zoo Opens for Special Holiday

The Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Garden and Zoo in Byculla, normally closed on Wednesdays, will remain open on August 27, shifting its weekly holiday to Thursday, August 28, to accommodate public visits during the festival.
