Ponniyin Selvan 2 box office: Aishwarya Rai-starrer grosses over ₹300 crore worldwide month after release

Ponniyin Selvan 2 box office: Over 300 crore have been made by Mani Ratnam’s movie internationally. Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Trisha, Karthik, and Jayam Ravi all starred in the movie.

More than a month after its debut, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 has earned over 300 crore globally. Production company Lyca Productions tweeted on Monday, “#PS2 continues conquering the box office worldwide with a 300 crore+ collection!” Additionally, it distributed posters with the text “300+ cr worldwide gross in cinemas worldwide” on them.

Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Karthik, and Jayam Ravi all appeared in Ponniyin Selvan 2. On April 28, the movie was released in theatres. Ponniyin Selvan, Mani Ratnam’s box office sensation from the previous year, has a sequel called PS 2.

The Tamil novel of the same name by author Kalki Krishnamurthy, which was published as a television series in the 1950s, was adapted for the big screen as Ponniyin Selvan. After their widely praised 2010 film Raavan, this is Aishwarya and Vikram’s third collaboration.

Aishwarya portrays Queen Nandini, the princess of Pazhuvoor, who is out for vengeance, as well as Mandakini Devi in the movie. Ponniyin Selvan 2 was dubbed and released in Hindi and Telugu in addition to Tamil. PS2, in contrast to the earlier installment, has performed admirably in Telugu states.

During its theatrical run, the first installment of the franchise made over 500 crore rupees at the box office worldwide. After overtaking Vikram, a film starring Kamal Haasan, who had a lifetime gross of 183 crore in Tamil Nadu, PS1 went on to become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time in the region.

Recently, a song, Veera Veera, from the film composed by AR Rahman was caught in a plagiarism row. Dhrupad singer Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar alleged that the tune was lifted from his father and uncle’s Shiva stuti. However, the allegations were denied by Madras Talkies, the makers of the film.
