WhatsApp down in India : WhatsApp faced a global partial outage, with users unable to send messages or access chats, especially on iPhones and Android.
WhatsApp is facing partial disruption, with users from India, the US and other regions reporting issues in sending messages and using the app. Hundreds of WhatsApp users globally are experiencing service issues while using the messaging platform. Downdetector data from both the US and India websites shows a sharp spike in outage reports shortly before 7:40 PM IST, with reports peaking at 628 in the US and 655 in India. The most commonly reported issue is sending messages, followed by app-related errors and receiving message failures.

According to Downdetector, 89% of users in both regions flagged problems with sending messages, 8–9% faced app-related issues, while 2–3% had trouble receiving messages or using the voice call feature. The surge in complaints indicates a widespread partial outage, although not as extensive as previous disruptions involving Meta platforms.

User complaints on social media

Users have taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to report their experiences and seek assistance. Some users noted that they were unable to load chats or send texts, particularly on iPhones. A user wrote, “@pppwad @wa_status WhatsApp on iPhone not working in India,” while another complained about chat freezing and glitching on iOS.

Others reported longer-term issues that may have been exacerbated during the current outage. One user, @M_N_NSR, highlighted persistent problems with transferring and restoring backups, stating that technical support had not resolved the issue.

Current status

As of 8:00 PM IST, WhatsApp services remain partially disrupted. The issue appears to be affecting message delivery and app stability more than login or server connection. Downdetector’s outage graphs continue to show elevated complaint levels above the baseline average of 2.

WhatsApp has yet to issue an official statement regarding the root cause of the issue or an expected timeline for resolution. Users are advised to monitor official WhatsApp social handles for updates and use alternative communication platforms if necessary.
