substantial drop in Covid-19 cases across the globe.

The government declared that the restrictions will be lifted starting on Monday, about a month after pre-

boarding RT-PCR testing were made necessary for travellers from six countries: China, Singapore, Hong

Kong, Korea, Thailand, and Japan.

The requirement to upload the “Air Suvidha” form for travellers coming through or via the six

Countries has also been withdrawn by the Center because of the substantial drop in Covid-19

instances around the world.

1.The current requirement of pre-departure Covid-19 testing, taken no later than 72 hours before the

journey, and self-health declaration on “Air Suvidha” for international arrivals from six countries was

changed in response to the downward trend in Covid-19 cases, according to a letter from union health

secretary Rajesh Bhushan to civil aviation secretary Rajiv Bansal.

2.Regardless of the nation of origin, random Covid-19 testing for 2% of all travellers arriving in India will

continue, and the union health ministry will continue to monitor developing variants. Due to the

worsening Covid situation in China and its neighbouring nations, the random tests that had been

suspended in November were restarted on December 24.

3.The revised rules will take effect on February 13 at 11 a.m.

4.The decision was made following a sharp drop in coronavirus cases in these nations over the previous

few weeks.

5.According to data from the World Health Organization, the number of new infections dropped by 89%

during the past 28 days compared to the totals recorded over the prior 28 days.

6.According to Wu Zunyou, chief epidemiologist at the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention,

there are extremely few chances that China will have to deal with a new outbreak of Covid-19 on a

significant scale in the near future.

7.Less than 100 new Covid19 cases are reported daily in India, which continues to show a drop in the

number of cases. 124 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Sunday, bringing the total number of

active infections to 1,843. The total number of deaths attributed to COVID19 was 5,30,750. India had

increased its readiness to battle the potential for a new rise in cases in December, amid reports of rising

cases in various nations after China reversed its zero-Covid policy.

8.Approximately 220.62 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given in India as of this writing,

according to the website of the health ministry.
