Before making the AI capabilities generally available to the public, Google has made them available to developers and enterprises for testing.

Last Monday, Thomas Kurian, the head of Google Cloud, made the AI additions official. The tools are made to help users write and organise emails as well as produce documents and presentations for corporate use.

The technology is a part of a recent crop of tools that show significant advancements in the field of artificial intelligence. Massive volumes of data are sent into computer systems with machine learning to create the tools. The data teaches the AI systems to master complex abilities and deliver outcomes that are comparable to those of humans.

After the launch of ChatGPT,

a free writing tool from a firm called OpenAI, the technology attracted significant media interest last year. That tool can generate written documents of human-quality quickly.

According to experts, these technologies could significantly alter a wide range of sectors and professions.

Several developers and businesses are currently able to test Google’s new tools in their development and commercial endeavours. The resources enable programmers to produce applications that are “simple, safe, and scalable” and make use of Google’s AI technologies.

Google’s AI technologies are made to produce completely written papers that may be utilised for a variety of purposes, much like ChatGPT.

An employee might, for instance, submit a brief description of the type of document they would like the AI system to create. Then, in a matter of seconds, the tools may produce a complete marketing email, training materials, or a company strategy.

As part of its Google Workspace service, Google said its AI capabilities will also be able to create succinct email descriptions in Gmail, customise business conversations, and capture meeting notes.

A software called Workspace has both free and premium accounts with billions of users.

Kurian told reporters that he envisions the system being able to provide a “AI collaborator” to support human workers in real time during a demonstration of Google’s new AI tools. Google reportedly wants its AI to “change” the work of marketers, lawyers, scientists, educators, and more, according to a video Kurian showed.

Google, however, is still “seriously committed,” according to Kurian, to creating ethical AI. He pointed out that’s why the business isn’t launching its new goods broadly, instead only allowing select “trusted testers” to utilise its current AI technologies.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed the business had created a brand-new AI-powered tool named “Bard” last month. According to Google, Bard is made to improve the internet search experience. According to the online statistics provider Statista, Google presently controls more than 80% of the global market for internet searches.

The launch of ChatGPT-like technological tools is Google’s most recent attempt to compete for customers with its release of the new AI capabilities. A lot of money is being invested in AI-related goods by organisations like Microsoft and Meta.

Microsoft revealed a fresh, multibillion-dollar investment in OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, earlier this year. Yet not long after Google announced the creation of Bard, Microsoft announced plans to rebuild its Edge web browser and Bing search engine with a number of new AI technologies.

Technological experts have cautioned that even while the new AI tools may produce writing that resembles that of a human being and other complicated texts, the systems are not error-free.

A significant factual error made by Bard last month contributed to a $100 billion decline in the company’s market worth.

Microsoft also came under fire from the general public after some users claimed that the Bing search engine’s results provided by the company’s new AI algorithms were antagonistic and derogatory.
