Custody, an action thriller starring Naga Chaitanya, was released yesterday to generally negative reviews. While some of the action scenes and the basic premise were well received by the audience, many believed that Venkat Prabhu might have handled the thriller parts more skillfully.
In every country, the movie’s opening day was a complete failure. Custody’s part in Nizam is a pitiful Rs 75 lakh, East did 11 lakh rupees in business on Day 1, and Guntur brought in Rs 20 lakh rupees, including hiring. Custody was able to bring in almost Rs 2Cr in Telugu states, and Nellore added Rs 10L to the movie. The film got off to a terrible start with a day 1 international collection of only 2.5Cr. Theatricals are valued at 21Cr, and it seems quite tough to break even.
Arvind Swami, Sarath Kumar, Krithi Shetty, Priyamani, Premji, Vennela Kishore, Sampath Raj, and Ramki all played significant roles in the film Custody. Music has been written by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Ilayaraja for this bilingual effort. Custoy, produced by Srinivasa Chitturi under the Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner, is Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu’s first-ever working relationship.
