Actor Prakash Raj recently crossed paths with comedian Kunal Kamra. On Friday, April 11, he shared a cheerful photo of the two on X.
He captioned the picture, “Tamil Nadu kaise pahunchneka bhai ..?? Simple… Auto mein (How will you reach Tamil Nadu? Simple in auto)(sic).”
The caption alluded to a leaked audio clip in which a Shiv Sena functionary is allegedly heard issuing a threat to the comedian.
In the said viral clip, the party worker is heard hurling abuses at Kamra and warning him that he would face the same fate as the studio where he filmed his recent video on Shinde. “Tu jidhar milega na bh****ke, tera bhi wohi haal hoga,” the voice can be heard saying.
The caller then asked the comedian about his location, to which Kamra, unfazed by the threats, responded, “Aaja Tamil Nadu, main yahi milunga.” When the caller repeated the question, Kamra boldly challenged him to talk face-to-face after arriving in Tamil Nadu.
To which the caller asked, “Kidhar aane ka?” (Where do I have to come?) to which Kmara responded Tamil Nadu Aaja. Responding to which the confused Sena workers said, “Abhi Tamil Nadu Kaise Pahunchega bhai,” (How will you reach Tamil Nadu now?) the clip was widely circulated on social media.
This comes after Kunal Kamra used a parody version of a song from the 1997 film ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai‘ targeting Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The act drew backlash, with Shiv Sena workers vandalising the Habitat studio. Days later, the BMC began demolishing parts of the venue.
Later, in a detailed statement, Kamra asserted that it was not against the law to make fun of leaders. “Your inability to take a joke at the expense of a powerful public figure does not change the nature of my right,” a part of his statement read.
Mumbai Police had earlier sent two summonses to Kamra after registering an FIR on March 24 based on a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel.
