During his speech at the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), Mukesh Ambani also mentioned that Reliance Jio has reached 98.8% coverage in West Bengal and 100% coverage in Kolkata.

Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Mukesh Ambani, stated on Tuesday that the company will be investing an extra Rs 20,000 crore in West Bengal over the next three years, claiming that their group has already spent close to Rs 45,000 crore in the state.

Ambani made this announcement while speaking at the seventh Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata’s New Town. The Reliance Foundation would take up the iconic Kalighat Temple’s reconstruction and restoration work.

“Reliance has made Bengal one of its top investment locations. Ambani declared, “Today, I announce an additional investment of Rs 20,000 crore in retail, bio-energy, and digital life solutions over the next three years.”

The billionaire went on to say that Reliance Jio, the telecom division of their firm, has 100% coverage in Kolkata and 98.8% coverage throughout the state.

He also mentioned Jio Mart’s expansion into more than 5 lakh food outlets and Reliance Retail’s growing footprint in the state.

“In the next two years, our network of around 1,000 retail locations will grow to over 1,200. Hundreds of MSMEs (micro, small, and medium-sized businesses) are assisted by our retail company. We are making several regional companies in Bengal famous across the country. We have collaborated with Prabhuji, Mukharochak, City Gold, Bisk Farm, and other companies to offer them an unparalleled distribution network throughout India. Jio Mart has also made it possible for the state’s 5.50 lakh kirana outlets to become a part of contemporary organized retail, which has increased output, revenue, and scale advantages. At the moment, we manage warehouse space of about 20 lakh square feet in Bengal. And this will multiply many times over,” the RIL chairman declared.

Ambani further emphasized that India is the world’s top producer of bioenergy and that the country is leading the way in both the bioenergy and green energy sectors.

Reliance has grown to be the biggest producer of bioenergy in India because to technologies that the business has developed itself. In the next three years, we hope to develop 100 compressed biogas plants using 5.5 million tons of organic waste and farm leftovers. Additionally, we will support farmers in expanding their energy crops. In addition to producing 2.5 million tonnes of organic manure yearly, this would help save approximately 2 million tonnes of carbon emissions, he claimed.

Our intention is to establish compressed biogas facilities in Bengal, which will allow state farmers to earn more money by acting as both food and energy producers, or ‘anndatas and urja datas.'” Reliance will march alongside the people of Bengal towards a future of shared prosperity, technological innovation, inclusion, and harmony with our present and new investments in these three industries, Ambani declared.

“The Reliance Foundation is deeply committed to participating in the resurgence of glorious Bengal, a land where artistic and spiritual heritage is truly priceless,” Ambani said, announcing the rehabilitation and restoration work of the Kalighat Temple. The century-old historic building and the entire temple complex are undergoing repairs to be restored to their former splendor.

Ambani, who announced more projects for the state, stated that they will work with the state government to market and distribute Bengali handicrafts and handloom goods across all retail channels.

“I’m delighted to inform you that the Reliance Foundation and the state government are collaborating to expand the reach of Biswa Bangla’s superior handicrafts and handloom items throughout all of our retail channels in India. With our extensive and expanding retail distribution network, we have just partnered with Biswa Bangla Corporation to expand the accessibility of Bengal’s traditional cuisine,” he stated.

The RIL chief added, “Third, Reliance recently launched a new initiative called ‘Swadesh’ to promote India’s incredibly rich and diverse traditional arts and crafts — both in India and globally. We are also setting up a large network of training institutes for the benefit of the younger generation of craftsmen. The Reliance Foundation plans to set up a training institute in Bengal with the cooperation of the state government.”

Described Chief Mamata Mamata Banerjee as “agni kanya” (woman composed of fire), the industrialist said, “Bengal is today standing taller, more vibrant and more confident of success in the future. This transformation has taken place because of your (Banerjee’s) visionary, strong, and determined leadership. Which is why, the people of Bengal have chosen you to lead them again and again… As late Atal Behari Vajpayee ji described you — you are truly an agni kanya. The fire of struggles and sacrifices has made your golden character shine brighter. And now you are making Shonar Bangla shine brighter,” he said.
