Coimbatore [India], September 15: Samantha Ruth Prabhu has given fans a glimpse into a deeply traditional baby shower ceremony held at Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation in Coimbatore. The actor, who is expecting her first child with filmmaker and husband Raj Nidimoru, shared a series of photographs and videos from the intimate celebration, along with details about the spiritual rituals performed during the ceremony.
The ceremony was far removed from a conventional celebrity baby shower. Samantha chose a traditional spiritual setting, with priests conducting rituals involving sacred water, mantras, flowers and other offerings. Raj Nidimoru was also present during the celebrations, and several photographs showed the couple together as they marked an important new chapter in their lives.
What made Samantha’s post particularly interesting was her decision to explain the meaning behind the rituals instead of simply sharing photographs. She said that she has always had a deep respect for Indian traditions, even though she did not always understand the significance behind every ritual. During the ceremony, a Srividya Upaasaka explained the various steps and their symbolism to her, giving her a deeper understanding of the experience.
One of the key rituals was Kalaa Aavarana, also known as Sri Kalpam, a practice associated with the Srividya tradition. Samantha explained that the ritual honours the 94 kalas of Devi through the seven chakras of the mother-to-be. Sacred water and mantras form an important part of the ritual, which is traditionally associated with purification, energy and blessings.
Samantha also spoke about what moved her most during the ceremony. According to her explanation, the mother-to-be is viewed as Devi herself — the sacred creator through whom another life is taking shape. The ritual therefore represents blessings not only for the unborn child but also for the woman entering a new phase of her life as a mother.
Another significant part of the ceremony involved the Sri Chakra Yantram. Samantha explained that after the abhishekam, the mother-to-be is seated at the centre of the Sri Chakra, which contains nine aavaranas representing different stages of a spiritual journey. The central bindu symbolises the source of creation and the presence of Lalita Tripurasundari.
The ceremony also included the recitation of Devi Khadgamaala, during which the names of deities and divine energies associated with the nine enclosures are chanted. Samantha said the recitation symbolically moves from the outer layers towards the centre and is traditionally believed to invoke protection and blessings for the mother and child.
The photographs also captured a more personal side of the occasion. Raj was seen standing beside Samantha during the ceremony, while friends and family members were part of the intimate gathering. In one of the moments shared online, Samantha was showered with flowers and petals as part of the celebrations.
The Isha Foundation holds a special significance for Samantha and Raj. The couple got married in an intimate ceremony at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore in December 2025. Returning to the same spiritual setting for another major milestone has therefore added another layer of personal meaning to their journey together.
Samantha had confirmed her pregnancy earlier this year and later revealed that she plans to take a short maternity break from acting. She has continued to share occasional glimpses of her pregnancy journey with fans while preparing for motherhood. Reports say Samantha and Raj are expecting their first child in December, although the couple has not announced an exact due date.
For Samantha, the latest celebration appears to have been less about glamour and more about tradition, spirituality and the emotional transition into motherhood. After participating in the rituals, she described herself as feeling deeply blessed and protected, while expressing gratitude to those who helped create the sacred setting and to the traditions that gave the ceremony its meaning.
