Mumbai [India], September 21: Actor and former professional wrestler Saurav Gurjar has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody after a 29-year-old woman filed a complaint alleging that he deceived, harassed and sexually exploited her on the promise of marriage. Gurjar, known for his role as Bhim in Mahabharat and his appearance in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, was detained at Mumbai Airport and later taken to Hyderabad for further legal proceedings.
According to the complaint, the woman first came in contact with Gurjar through Instagram in 2021. Their conversations later moved to WhatsApp, and she alleged that the two developed a close relationship. She claimed that they met in person for the first time on December 25, 2021, after which Gurjar allegedly assured her that he would marry her and give her rights similar to those of a wife.
The complainant further alleged that their relationship continued while she was in the United States and later after she returned to India. According to her account, Gurjar persuaded her to leave her job in the US on the assurance that they would start a business together. She also alleged that the relationship and subsequent conduct affected her career and caused emotional and financial difficulties.
The woman reportedly told police that whenever she raised the subject of marriage, Gurjar would allegedly block her phone number or stop communicating with her. She claimed that he stayed with her between October 2025 and March 2026 and later disappeared without informing her. The complaint also alleges that she relocated to Hyderabad with the expectation that they would eventually settle together.
Gachibowli police registered a case on August 15 under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), concerning sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, according to police cited by The Times of India. Investigators also issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) in connection with the case.
Gurjar was reportedly intercepted by immigration officials at Mumbai Airport on the night of September 17 after arriving from West Asia. Gachibowli police subsequently brought him to Hyderabad, where he was produced before a magistrate. The court then remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
The allegations remain allegations at this stage and will be subject to the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings. The police investigation is expected to examine the nature of the relationship, the alleged promises of marriage and the other claims made by the complainant. There has been no court finding establishing the allegations against Gurjar as true.
Gurjar has had a career spanning professional wrestling and television before moving into films. He gained widespread recognition after playing Bhim in Star Plus’ Mahabharat, which aired from 2013 to 2014. He later appeared in Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman, where he played Ravan and Bali. His film debut came with Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva in 2022. He also returned to television in 2025 with Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyaag Tandav.
The case has brought renewed attention to Gurjar’s public career, but the legal proceedings are still at an early stage. His judicial custody follows the police investigation and does not itself determine guilt. Further developments are expected as investigators examine the complaint and gather evidence.
