Mumbai Gold Scam : In a shocking revelation, Mumbai Police has uncovered a massive gold and investment scam worth ₹43.76 crore, leading to the arrest of a chartered accountant and a father-son duo. The accused allegedly lured multiple investors with promises of high returns on gold and stock market investments, only to siphon off the funds for personal gain.
According to officials from LT Marg Police Station, the scam involved a fraudulent scheme resembling “dabba trading,” where no actual investments were made in the stock market. Instead, the victims were shown fabricated profit statements to maintain trust and lure them into investing more money.
The investigation revealed that the accused targeted high-net-worth individuals and business owners, offering them lucrative returns on gold purchases and stock trades. Over time, the group collected over ₹43 crore before defaulting on payouts and cutting off communication with investors.
Police have seized multiple bank accounts, financial documents, and electronic devices connected to the case. Authorities believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward, and further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
The Mumbai Police has urged citizens to exercise caution when approached with investment schemes that promise unusually high returns. Investors are advised to verify the credentials of brokers and ensure that trades are executed through registered exchanges.
